The Yorkshire Dialect Society Council meets twice a year in York, in February and September, to discuss various aspects of the Society, with any business which arises in the interim being conducted through mailshots, or by phone/email.
Any member of the YDS is welcome to serve on Council. The task is not unduly onerous and we are constantly looking for recruits to volunteer their services to help keep the YDS going. While technical expertise or knowledge are always a bonus, interest, enthusiasm and a willingness to 'muck in' are what we really need.
Please contact Hon Secretary if you feel you fit the bill.

(Council members give their time and effort voluntarily,

so to keep running costs down, when contacting Officers,

we would appreciate it if you could enclose

a stamped addressed envelope for a reply.

Please also note that, if you have a query about a particuar word, phrase, poem, story or article, your local library could be the best place to try initially,

or a search of the web might be of assistance.

We do try to answer individual questions, but, as we have no central office facilities, our help may of necessity be limited.

Students especially should not expect us to research and write their thesis!)
